One of healthcare AI’s most closely watched ventures has stepped out on its own, carrying a fresh $300 million to fuel its next phase. Verily Health, once under Alphabet’s wing, is now an independent company aiming to turn years of promise into real-world impact.

The funding round, announced March 19, 2026, was led by Series X Capital, a fund designed to shepherd Google X projects into standalone businesses. Alphabet remains involved but has shifted to a minority stake, joined by UCHealth and the University of Colorado Anschutz. The company has formally reorganized as Verily Health Inc., signaling a clean break from its Big Tech origins.

That separation could prove as meaningful as the capital itself. While Alphabet provided resources and credibility, it also introduced hesitation among potential partners wary of aligning too closely with a tech giant. Independence clears that hurdle, giving Verily a more neutral footing in negotiations with health systems and life sciences firms.

The new funding will accelerate Verily Pre, a platform built to unify fragmented health data from genomics to wearable devices and clinical records. The goal is to make that data usable for AI-driven research and patient care. Investment will also expand Lightpath, focused on chronic disease management, and Verily Me, a consumer app offering personalized health guidance through an AI assistant.

Partnerships are already reinforcing that strategy. A collaboration with Samsung brings Galaxy Watch biometric data into Verily’s ecosystem, while integration with Salesforce’s Agentforce Health connects its insights to enterprise care workflows. Together, these moves position Verily as both a data engine and a clinical tool.

The timing aligns with a broader surge in AI-driven healthcare investment, which accounted for 55% of sector funding in 2025. For Verily, the challenge now is execution, turning infrastructure into outcomes that matter for patients and providers alike.

With new capital, a sharper identity, and growing industry ties, Verily Health is no longer an experiment inside Alphabet. It is now a standalone contender racing to make precision medicine practical at scale.
